Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, I attended our hometown university Texas El Paso, to study Metallurgical Engineering. Upon graduation in 1984, I proposed and married Linda Palacios. We moved to Central Texas where I worked for the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) in Rockdale, Texas. I left Alcoa after 10 years to pursue opportunities with Applied Materials. Linda and I built our life together, and after ten years of marriage gave birth to our son Gilbert Tomas Acosta. Exactly one year later, Linda was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. She fought bravely, but after a 2 1⁄2 year battle succumbed to the disease in August 1998, leaving Little Gil and I to fend for ourselves. With the grace of God we managed for the next 6 years until we met Tracy Krenek. Tracy joined our family in February 2005 and we soon added Gavin Diego Acosta to our clan in April 2006 and in September 2010, we added one more child, the first girl grandchild on either side of the family, Maya Olivia. My hobbies include coaching youth soccer, camping, and amateur woodworking. I also enjoy outdoor cooking.
